Street art has a much more important function in Latin societies than in Europe. It’s not merely art: it is often deeply political, and social. Almost all the schools in Ecuador for example seemed to have street art outsaide the walls illustrating the basic rules of behaviour.
In countries with such high inequality, it is also often a way to criticize the government. That makes street art in Latin so exciting and relevant. It wasn’t any different in Ecuador, especially in Quito. Have a look yourself!
