Nickname: El Ciclon (the cyclone) and Los Cuervos (the crows), because the founding father (a priest) always wore black
Club fun facts: huge club with a huge history. Officially called San Lorenzo de Almagro, but their spiritual home is the Boedo neighborhood. They were forced out there during the dictatorship years in 1979 and moved from the Viejo Gasometro (old gasometer) to the Nuevo Gasometro in 1993. In 2019 the club bought back the land of their former stadium, planning is ongoing to construct a new stadium there. That will probably be named after their biggest fan, Pope Francis.
Official site: https://sanlorenzo.com.ar//
Stadium: Pedro Bidegain (Nuevo Gasometro)
Capacity: 47.964
Stadium specifics: like several other clubs like Boca, San Lorenzo also has a huge area at its disposal around the stadium for the different sports branches it has. The stadium itself is another one with four different stands, painted in the red-blue club colors. The main stand (Platea Norte) has a roof, and just like the opposite side (Platea Sur) only seats. The barra bravas stand on the eastern side (popular local) and are famous for their creative and relentless singing.
How to get there: just take a bus, for instance bus 143 from Paseo Colon to 2555 Fernandez de la Cruz. From here you walk to the stadium in five minutes. Do NOT venture to the northside of the stadium towards possible subway lines, as you will walk through slums (called villas), which really is NOT recommended.
Tickets: for invitados only seats, from the day before the match onwards.
