Nickname: Granate (after the color of the shirt, what we would call Bourgondy red)
Club fun facts: yes, officially we are outside of the city of Buenos Aires here as well. In the suburb of Lanus, maybe three stops further down the train line that also takes you to Independiente and Racing Club.
In 1935 they were forced to merge with nearby rivals Talleres. But apparently you can also defuse, because that’s what the clubs did a year later. Lanus has been a relatively unknown yet stable part of Argentinian football, thanks to stable management and the continuous influx of players from the youth academy managed to become champions twice in the 2010s.

Stadium: Ciudad de Lanus – Nestor Diaz Perez (La Fortaleza – The Fortress)
Capacity: 47.090
Stadium specifics: much bigger than it looks, and yes this one has three stands with a roof since an extensive renovation that was finished in 2003. Those roofs saved me during the one downpour I experienced whilst visiting footy games in Argentina.
The stadium is relatively old (from the 1930s) and as basic as it gets. The barra bravas (called La Barra 14) stand on the north stand, which is the side you first encounter when you approach the stadium from Gral. Maderiaga street.
How to get there: Lanus is a quiet industrial suburb of Buenos Aires. Easiest is to take the famous Grand Southern railway line from Plaza Constitucion to Lanus station. From there it is a 15-20 minute walk, just take the main boulevard with shops that you see when leaving the station on the east side. Approach the stadium from Gral. Maderiaga, other entrances might be closed. If you get stuck after a late game, there are buses from the backside (west side) of the train station towards Constitucion.
Tickets: The easiest of all, as Lanus almost never sells out. Tickets can be bought online usually from 1-2 days before the event.
